Royal Thai Embassy participates in the Royal Kathina Ceremony

On 5 November 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat and the officials of the Royal Thai Embassy participated in the Royal Kathina Ceremony at Thai temples in the DMV area, as follows:

1) Ambassador Tanee Sangrat and Mrs. Cholatip Kambhu Sangrat presided over the Royal Kathin Ceremony at Wat Thai Washington D.C., which was co-sponsored by Mr. Worachai Kluengpho, Ms. Kanyaphat Chankaew, and Ms. Siwilai Samang. Many Thai and foreign Buddhists attending the event joined together in chanting prayers, taking precepts, making merit by giving alms to monks and offering them food, and bringing the Kathina robe to be ceremonially paraded around the temple. In addition, approximately 99 almshouses set up to distribute Thai food and beverages, Thai traditional music and performances, all of which were well received by over 700 participants at the ceremony.

2) Colonel Kitisak Kanchanavasita, Defense and Military Attaché, presided over the Royal Kathina Ceremony at Wat Yarnna Rangsee, Virginia, which was co-sponsored by Ms. Gift Chaweewan Thongpia and Mrs. Thitima Chanthasen. During the event, there was an alms giving merit-making ceremony, and an offering of lunch and the Royal Kathina robe to the monks. In addition, the attendees also set up an almshouse and distributed Thai food and beverages, including traditional Thai massage, which attracted a significant number of both Thai and foreign attendees.
