On 18 February 2023 Ambassador Tanee Sangrat, Mrs. Cholathip Kambhu Sangrat, and officials from the Royal Thai Embassy and Team Thailand, joined Thai community event, “Isan Hug Phaeng Kin Khaw Laeng on Valentine’s Day,” organized by the Thai Isan Association in Washington D.C. to celebrate and strengthen unity of Thais from the Northeast as well as those from other regions.

Thais, Laotians, and Americans interested in Isan culture living in the DMV and surrounding areas including North Carolina and West Virginia enjoyed the traditional Northeastern cultural show and foods at the event.

Ambassador Tanee expressed his appreciation and admiration to the Thai Isan Association for donating scholarships for underprivileged children with limited financial means in the Northeast.

Ambassador Tanee also invited the Thai Isan Association and the Thai community to participate and support the activities to celebrate the 190th anniversary of Thai-U.S. diplomatic relations, and the Thai Festival in Washington D.C.
