On 14 December 2023, the US-Thai Alliance Caucus, together with the Royal Thai Embassy, and the US-Asia Institute co-hosted a roundtable luncheon entitled “190 Years of US-Thai relations: Strengthening the Thai-American Community in the US” at the Rayburn House Office Building.

This event provided an opportunity for Congress and the Thai-American community to share information and exchange views on related issues including immigration, small and medium-sized businesses, hate crime, higher education and workforce development. The roundtable also enabled the Members of Congress and staffers to share the remarkable work that they have done to improve and strengthen the Thai-American and AAPI Community.

The discussion featured opening remarks by Ambassador Tanee Sangrat, and Chairman Glenn Lau-Kee of the US-Asia Institute, followed by special remarks by Rep. Judy Chu (R-CA) and Rep. James Moylan (R-GU, At Large).

Thai-Community leaders joining the discussion with policymakers on the Hill were the Thai Restaurant Association of America, the Nuad Thai and Spa Association of America, the Thai American Bar Association (TABA), the Thai American Samakkee Coalition, the Association of Thai Students in the United States of America (ATSA), Thai Community USA NYC, the Thai Creative Student Collective (TCSC), and the Thai Community Development Center (Thai CDC).

This roundtable discussion was part of a three-part series of roundtable discussions to celebrate the 190th Anniversary of Thai-US diplomatic relations.
