On 29 November 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat met with Rep.Jason Smith (R-MO), Chair of Ways and Means Committee to discuss opportunities and challenges in renewing the GSP that would bring mutual benefit to the two-way trade partnership.  Both sides also discussed ways to promote supply chain resilience and reduce US reliance on China.

The discussion with Chairman Smith was a follow up of the Congressman’s Thailand visit as part of the U.S. Congressional delegation on 3 August 2023 to strengthen cooperation on the issues of shared priorities, including economic and investment cooperation, and people-to-people cooperation.
