U.S. Members of Congress Explore New Avenues for Trade and Investment with Thailand

On 13 May 2025, H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States, joined the Thai delegation attending the 2025 SelectUSA Investment Summit, along with Dr. Nalinee Taveesin, President of Thailand Trade Representatives, Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Wirat Tatsaringkansakul, Deputy Secretary-General of the BOI, in a meeting with U.S. Members of Congress, including Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), senior staff from the offices of Congresswoman Niki Budzinski (D-IL) and Congressman Darin LaHood (R-IL), as well as representatives from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and U.S. private sector companies. Thailand’s leading companies were also present. During the meeting, representatives from Thai companies shared information about their investments in the U.S. and explored opportunities to further expand in the states of Illinois and Michigan.


On 14 May 2025, the Thai delegation also attended a dinner, hosted by Ambassador Suriya, with members of the US-Thai Alliance Caucus, including Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC), Co-Chair, and Representative Ed Case (D-HI). The event provided an opportunity for the Thai delegation and Caucus members to exchange views and engage in a friendly discussion on promoting close ties between the U.S. and Thailand.
