On 14 February 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat met with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) prior to the Ambassador’s official visit to Texas between 21-26 February 2023.

Both sides discussed Thai-US relations and Thailand-Texas trade and investment cooperation. Thailand’s Investment in Texas, mainly in the energy and petrochemical sector, is the largest in the US or about $3.5 billion, accounting for 20% of Thailand’s investment in the US. Thai companies investing in Texas include PTT, Banpu and Indorama.

Ambassador also exchanged views with Sen. Cruz on political developments and US role in the region.

In 2022, the total trade volume between Thailand and Texas amounts to 8.86 billion and the Thai community in Texas is the second largest in the United States
