On 10 January 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat paid a courtesy call on Congressman Scott Peters (D-CA, 50). Both sides exchanged views on a number of issues relating to US-Thai cooperation including trade and investments, defense, 190th Anniversary of US-Thai diplomatic relations in 2023 and Mekong-US Partnership.

Congressman Peters also expressed his interests many issues relating to Thailand ranging from the state of US-Thai relations to Thai food. Congressman Peters was also interested in joining the US-Thailand Friendship Caucus as proposed by Ambassador Tanee.

Ambassador Tanee thanked Congressman Peters for his active role in district 50th (Coronado, Poway, and most of northern San Diego) as well as his support for the Thai community.
