On 29 February 2024, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat, together with Mrs. Cholatip Kambhu Sangrat, his spouse, hosted a cooking demonstration by Chef Wattanaphong Kongwattana, the Head Chef of the Ambassador’s Residence, at the Royal Thai Embassy.

The event was held in collaboration with the Women’s Diplomatic Series, led by Mrs. Cristina Hilsenrath, President of the Women's Diplomatic Series, and was attended by around 40 participants. Mrs. Thi Bich Van, spouse of the Ambassador of Viet Nam and Mrs. Soo Fen Lui, spouse of the Ambassador of Singapore also took part in the event.

DCM Chuliepote Isarankura Na Ayudhaya welcomed the participants, giving them highlights of Thai - U.S. relations and information on upcoming activities at the Embassy before introducing Chef Wattanaphong to the participants.

The cooking demonstration featured cooking Thai sticky rice using a microwave and two Thai dishes: Salmon Tomsaep (Salmon Spicy and Sour Soup) and Laab Tuna (Spicy Tuna Salad), using Chicken of the Sea, which is a tuna product from Thailand. Chef Wattanaphong provided the participants with basic knowledge of Thai cuisine, sourcing of Thai ingredients at various Thai and Asian supermarkets, and Thai cooking techniques, before giving participants the chance to make spicy tuna salad themselves. They were also given the recipes to bring home so that they can enjoy the Thai dishes with their families and friends.
