Ambassador of Thailand to the United States discusses ways to promote state-level cooperations with governmental representatives in North Carolina

On 23-24 August 2024, Ambassador Suriya Chindawongse traveled to North Carolina and met representatives of the State Government, namely, Sarah Stevens, Speaker Pro Tempore of the North Carolina House of Representatives, Jeff Michael, Deputy Secretary for Natural Resources, Julia White, Deputy Chief of Staff, North Carolina Governor's Office, Staci Meyer, Chief Deputy Secretary and General Counsel, Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, Susan Fleetwood, Executive Director of Economic Development, Office of the Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Commerce and Phil Feagan, General Counsel, Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, to discuss ways to promote cooperations at the state-level between Thailand and North Carolina. Among the many issues of discussion were cooperation on promoting trade and investment, tourism, agriculture, education and culture, to name a few.

Ambassador Suriya also participated in the Embassy’s consular outreach and met the Thai community at the Buddha Raleigh Temple in Knightdale, North Carolina. Additionally,  Ambassador met Thai students currently studying at the North Carolina State University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University, to explore cooperation with students at these universities in the future.
