On February 7, 2025, Ambassador Suriya Chindawongse met with Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Readiness of the House Armed Services Committee and a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, to discuss ways to promote further collaboration between Thailand and the U.S. in all dimensions. Both sides also discussed trade and investment opportunities between Thailand and the state of South Carolina, as well as exchanged views on global affairs.

Rep. Wilson places great importance on U.S. allies and is committed to supporting the constructive role of the U.S. in the region. He expressed his willingness to serve as co-chair of the US-Thai Alliance Caucus to demonstrate the U.S. Congress's support for Thailand, which has been a strong ally of the U.S. since 1833.
