On 15 January 2025, H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States, met with representatives of three leading American companies, namely, Boeing, Microsoft and Amazon, during his visit to Washington State. Ms. Navarat Vongbenjarat, Director of the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), Los Angeles Office, and officers from the Royal Thai Embassy and BOI, Los Angeles Office, also joined the meetings.

At Boeing’s Everett facility, Ambassador Suriya and Boeing representatives reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the long-standing partnership between Boeing and Thailand. Both sides also discussed key areas of aviation cooperation, including the development of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities in Thailand, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Following the meeting, the delegation toured Boeing’s Composite Wing Center and observed the wing manufacturing process firsthand.

At Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Ambassador Suriya and Microsoft representatives discussed various initiatives and investments, including Microsoft’s plans to establish data centers in Thailand and its “AI National Initiative,” which aims to equip one million Thais with AI skills by the end of 2025.

At Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle, Ambassador Suriya discussed a wide range of issues with Amazon representatives, including the recent launch of the AWS Asia Pacific (Thailand) Region by Amazon Web Services (AWS) with investments of $5 billion as announced recently, its long-term data center investment plans, and cooperation in workforce development and upskilling. The Ambassador was also briefed on Amazon’s future plans to launch satellite internet services, known as “Project Kuiper.”
