On 20 January 2023, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce hosted a welcome lunch for H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, the Ambassador of Thailand to the U.S. on the occasion of his assumption of duty. The participants included Mr. Charles Freeman, Senior Vice President for Asia of the USCC and representatives of 15 US leading companies.
Ambassador Tanee took this opportunity to give a briefing on Thailand’s economic performance and outlook including trade, investment and tourism. He stressed the importance of the U.S. as one of the most important Thailand’s trade and investment partners as well as one of the most crucial overseas investment destinations for Thailand. Ambassador Tanee extended his invitation to U.S companies to help drive investments in sectors which have high potential for further growth including digital technology, health and well-being, smart logistics, clean energy and BCG-related industries, especially in the areas of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
Ambassador explained about Thailand’s election timeline and reiterated the country’s pro-business, trade, and investment regardless of who becomes the government.
Ambassador Tanee also emphasized Thailand’s desire to work closely with U.S. companies during the U.S. APEC host year in implementing the Bangkok Goals on BCG Economy which is one of the remarkable deliverables during Thailand APEC host year as well as his desire to promote startups from Thailand to gain financial access in the U.S.
