Ambassador Tanee meets Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade

Today (11 January 2023), H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the U.S., Miss Supawadee Yamgamol, Minister (Commercial Affairs), and officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, called on Mrs. Marisa Lago, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade to discuss Thai-U.S. trade and investment cooperation.

Ambassador Tanee sought support from the Department of Commerce on the following issues: (1) the upcoming visit of M.L. Chayotid Kridakon, Thai Trade Representative, to promote investment in Thailand among American companies; (2) Thai investment in the U.S., particularly in BCG-related and clean energy industries; and (3) Promotion of start-ups from Thailand to gain access to finance in the U.S.  Moreover, Ambassador Tanee thanked the U.S. government for choosing Bangkok as a venue for Trade Winds Mission and Business Forum this year and expressed his full support.

Under Secretary Lago expressed her appreciation for the success of Thailand APEC host year, Thailand’s support on the advancement of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) and facilitation in organizing Trade Winds Mission and Business Forum, which is the largest U.S. government-led trade mission and business development forum.  Under Secretary Lago also invited Thai companies to attend 2023 SelectUSA Investment Summit, the annual highest-profile event for foreign direct investment (FDI) in the U.S. and will be held on 1-4 May 2023 at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Maryland.
