On 2 June 2025, Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States, met with
a delegation from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), led by Mr. Phuripan Bunnag, Deputy Director and Acting Director of TCEB, along with representatives from Bangkok, led by Mr. Pimuk Simaroj, Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok at the Royal Thai Embassy. The meeting focused on exploring ways to promote cooperation in Thailand’s bid to host the InterPride World Conference 2025 and WorldPride 2030.

On this occasion, Ambassador Suriya emphasized Thailand’s longstanding strengths as a supporter of human rights, gender equality, and sustainability. Thai is also synonymous with “togetherness”, “hospitality”, “aspiration”, and “inclusiveness.” In addition, Thailand continues openness to diversity and has become the first country in Southeast Asia to legalize same sex marriage. Ambassador Suriya expressed the Embassy’s full readiness to support collaboration with TCEB and Bangkok in advancing and promoting these events.
