Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC), who serves as Co-Chair of the U.S.-Thai Alliance Caucus, submitted remarks in the Congressional Record in honor of, and to extended condolences on, the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. In his remarks, he paid tribute to Her Majesty The Queen Mother’s lifelong dedication to public service and to her role as a champion of furthering rural development in Thailand. As a steadfast companion of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, Her Majesty traveled with him throughout the country and advocated for projects to help the poor. Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother was also an advocate for the preservation of traditional silk-weaving and is credited with helping to revitalize Thailand’s silk industry.
