On 18 November 2025, H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the U.S., met with Ms. Anna Morris, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorist Financing at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Both sides agreed that the interconnectedness of online scams, which are proliferating around the world, including in Southeast Asia, presents serious threats to transnational security and socio-economic development and is increasingly associated with cybercrime, human trafficking, financial fraud, and transnational crime.
Both sides expressed their shared commitment to deepening Thai-U.S. cooperation, especially in enhancing international efforts to disrupt and dismantle transnational criminal networks. In this regard, Ambassador Suriya informed A/S Morris that the Royal Thai Government will host the International Conference on the Global Partnership against Online Scams in Thailand from 17–18 December 2025, with the aim of strengthening cooperation under “IIPP” framework namely, Intelligence sharing, Investigation, Prosecution, and Protection of victims, along with action-oriented collaboration in Finance, Technology, and Capacity-Building (FTC) to advance a more coordinated regional and global approach to combat online scams, in which A/S Morris commended Thailand’s efforts and commitment.
