On 7 January 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat held a meeting with representatives from Thai associations, clubs, temples, media, and students in Washington DC, nearby areas, and other states in the US, to discuss ways to strengthen the Thai community in the US.

Ambassador Tanee emphasized the Embassy’s readiness to support and promote an increasing role, participation, and even leverage of the Thai community in the US for their own and Thailand’s interests. Ambassador Tanee also reiterated that the Thai community can have an increasing role in promoting Thailand’s image via our outstanding soft powers such as foods, tourism, sports, culture, massage and spa, and Muay Thai.

The meeting also discussed the following issues (1) activities to celebrate the 190^th anniversary of Thai-US diplomatic relations in 2023 (2) activities to connect the Thai people (3) cooperation of Thai business owners and (4) possibility of establishing the Thai Town in DMV area.
