H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse attended the successful inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace chaired by President Trump on 19 February 2026 in Washington D.C. as an observer. Thailand attended the meeting as an observer in order to show support for the initiative which seeks to help the people of Gaza, while it is considering the details of the Board.

During the Board Meeting, the Ambassador had the opportunity to pay his respects to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and His Excellency Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, and engaged in conversations with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio, USTR Jamieson Greer, U.S. Special Envoy for Peace Jared Kushner, World Bank President Ajay Banga, FIFA President Gianni Infantino and heads of delegations of many countries from the Middle East and Europe, to promote good understanding and closer cooperation with Thailand.
