Excellence on the Horizon: Airbus Expands Presence in Thailand

European aerospace corporation Airbus has opened a major new office in Thailand, demonstrating its strong commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s vision of becoming a regional aviation hub. The facility is staffed by 200 professionals from 17 countries and will play a key role in enhancing Airbus operations across the Asia-Pacific region.

The new office will also serve as the base for the Airbus Flight Operations Center of Excellence, which focuses on improving service quality both within Thailand and throughout the region.

Mr. Anand Stanley, President of Airbus for Asia-Pacific, noted that Thailand is quickly developing as an important player in the global aviation industry. The Kingdom’s aviation sector—including technology, infrastructure, and aircraft procurement—has seen considerable progress. Airbus recognizes Thailand not only as a hub for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services but also as a center for advanced aviation technology and engineering.

“This year, we expect to deliver 820 aircraft globally, with the majority of orders coming from the Asia-Pacific region,” said Mr. Stanley. “In Thailand, Airbus aircraft are operated by Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, and Thai VietJet. By the end of this year, Thai Airways will also introduce its A321neo aircraft featuring a new business-class seating arrangement.”

Airbus projects that the Asia-Pacific region will need approximately 20,000 new aircraft over the next two decades, accounting for nearly half of the global demand.

Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), welcomed Airbus’ decision to establish its regional headquarters in the Kingdom.

“Having Airbus’ headquarters in Thailand reflects our growing role in the global aviation industry,” he said, “and supports our ongoing efforts to strengthen our position as a regional aviation hub.”

Located at the heart of mainland Southeast Asia, Thailand is a natural transportation center for both regional and international air traffic. The Kingdom is home to 10 international airports, all of which are undergoing rapid modernization with state-of-the-art technologies. Many airports are also being expanded to meet the rising demand for passenger travel and cargo transport.

Airbus is the world’s largest manufacturer of commercial aircraft. Alongside passenger and cargo planes, the company has divisions specializing in defense, space, and helicopters. The newly established team in Thailand will support Airbus’ operations across all these areas.
