Calling Thailand a strategic production hub, Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) of the United States has opened an advanced manufacturing facility in the Kingdom, signaling Thailand’s growing importance in semiconductor production and the global technology ecosystem.
The firm said its new site would support more resilient and sustainable semiconductor production. Designed as a smart and sustainable factory, ADI said it used automation and digital manufacturing technologies to improve efficiency, environmental performance and responsiveness to demand.
“Thailand is one of the strategic hubs of ADI’s global manufacturing footprint,” said Vincent Roche, CEO and Chairperson at ADI. “This expansion underscores our long-term commitment to Thailand and the region as key link in our ability to reliably and sustainably deliver our world-class technology. As our customers’ needs evolve, our investments ensure we can continue to deliver differentiated innovation at scale.”
ADI emphasized that Thailand is a key part of its global manufacturing network. Producing in Thailand helps the company add flexibility, scale and resilience to serve customers across multiple markets.
EE Times, an electronics industry news website, said the expansion is part of ADI’s hybrid manufacturing strategy which combines internal factories with external foundry and outsourced semiconductor assembly and test partners.
“The new facility greatly enhances our ability to test operations efficiently and responsibly,” said Vivek Jain, Executive Vice President of Global Operations and Technology at ADI. “With strong engineering talent, supply chain advantages and an environment that supports long-term growth, Thailand is an essential part of how we build a more agile, resilient and future-ready manufacturing network.”
Established in 2000, Analog Devices Thailand is one of ADI’s major backend manufacturing sites, according to the company’s press statement. Its facilities in the Kingdom support the industrial, automotive, communications, consumer and digital healthcare markets.
The new facility added cleanroom and manufacturing capacity for test, wafer-level processing, chip scale packaging and final IC test operations, ADI said.
