On 2 May 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy, in collaboration with Events DC, hosted the Passport DC: Around the World Embassy Tour 2026 at the Embassy. The event welcomed more than 3,000 visitors, offering them an opportunity to experience Thailand’s unique identity through cultural performances, tourism promotion, Thai cuisine and traditional wisdom.
On this occasion, Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the US, presided over the opening ceremony and delivered welcoming remarks, highlighting the 193-year friendship between Thailand and the US. The Ambassador also emphasized Thailand’s participation in celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US through people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
The event was honored by the presence of H.E. Dr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Chairman of the Advisory Board to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, during his visit to the US, and Ms. Kimberly Bassett, Secretary of State of District of Columbia.
Program highlights included traditional Thai dances and contemporary performances, Muay Thai demonstration and the Wai Kru ceremony, authentic Thai massage sessions, tourism exhibition, an interactive digital Thai costume experience, fruit carving demonstration, coconut-themed educational activities, Songkran activities for children and families, as well as Thai food and dessert booths by local Thai businesses, all of which received enthusiastic interest from visitors.
The Embassy also organized the Music in the Garden at the Grace Episcopal Church, located across the street from the Embassy, featuring live music and outdoor activities that further promoted friendship and cultural exchange throughout the afternoon.
