The Royal Thai Embassy participated in the Around the World in Embassy Flowers, part of Flower Mart 2026, held at the Washington National Cathedral on 1 – 2 May 2026. Organized with the support of the All Hallows Guild, the annual event raises funds for the care and maintenance of the Cathedral’s gardens. There are 18 embassies, cultural centers, and international offices participating in the floral exhibition, showcasing arrangements that reflect cultural identities and heritages.
The Royal Thai Embassy presented the “Elephant of Friendship” arrangement featuring the elephant as a symbol of Thailand’s cultural identity, combined locally sourced American flowers with Thai orchids, representing the strong friendship between Thailand and the United States. Intricately carved Thai fruits were also incorporated to commemorate the 193rd anniversary of Thailand – U.S. relations and the 250th anniversary of the United States.
On 1 May 2026, H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States, together with officials and spouses of Team Thailand, joined the opening ceremony at the Washington National Cathedral alongside the representative of the Mayor of Washington, D.C., foreign ambassadors and heads of offices from participating countries and international offices.
Thailand’s participation was made possible through the collaboration between the Royal Thai Embassy and the Office of Agricultural Affairs, Office of the Defense and Military Attaché, Office of the Naval Attaché and Office of the Air Attaché in Washington, D.C.
