On 21 February 2025, Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the US and Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul-General of Thailand in New York along with officials of the Royal Thai Embassy and Royal Thai Consulate-General in New York, paid a call on Phra Sutham Thitathammo, Abbot of Buddhayaram Temple, and members of the monastic at Buddhathai Thavornvanaram Temple New York and Wat Vajiradhammapadip Temple Mount Vernon.

The Ambassador took this opportunity to express his condolences on the fire incident which resulted in casualties and severe damages to the Temple. He also reiterated the Embassy’s and the Consulate-General’s readiness to render continued support and assistance.

During the visit, the Ambassador presided over a religious ceremony to offer merits to a Thai monk and a Thai citizen who lost their lives in the tragic incident.
