Official Visa for Official Passport Holders

Validity of visa: 6 months (Multiple entry) 

Fee: Exempt

Purpose of visit:

1. Posted in Thailand
2. On official mission
3. Non Posting UN mission

Please note that the documents required for visa application, including the Note Verbale, remain unchanged and must be uploaded when applying for a visa online.

Procedures for Obtaining a Visa

If the applicant does not have a valid visa or re-entry permit, the applicant must fill in the information and upload all required documents online at https://www.thaievisa.go.th/ (For instructions, please check https://www.thaievisa.go.th/static/English-Manual.pdf )

Required documents to upload in the system (Large and clear JPEG or PDF format) for an Official Posted in Thailand (Long Term): 

  1. Passport Biodata Page or Travel Document (Must be valid within 6 months from travel date)
  2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  3. Document indicating current location (driving license, bank statement, or proof of stay)
  4. An Official Letter issued by the Department of State/DOD/USIAD/World Bank/IMF/WHO affirming the posting details and indicating its purpose to Thailand. The letter must indicate full name, Passport number, title, and period of assignment. 

Required documents to upload in the system (Large and clear JPEG or PDF format) for an official mission (Short Visit): 

  1. Passport Biodata Page or Travel Document (Must be valid within 6 months from travel date)
  2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  3. Document indicating current location (driving license, bank statement, or proof of stay)
  4. An Official Letter issued by the Department of State/DOD/USAID/World Bank/IMF/WHO affirming the trip and indicating its purpose to Thailand. The letter must indicate full name, Passport number, title, and the period of the assignment

Required documents to upload in the system (Large and clear JPEG or PDF format) for Non Posting UN mission:

  1. Passport Biodata Page (Laissez Passer) that is valid within 6 months from travel date
  2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  3. Document indicating current location (driving license, bank statement, or proof of stay)
  4. An Official Letter issued by the UN/UNHCR/Unicef/ILO/Unesco/UNDP affirming the trip and indicating its purpose to Thailand. The letter must indicate full name, Passport number, title, and the period of the assignment
  5. Valid Green Card or U.S. Visa page (e.g. G4) as a proof of residency.

***Additional Documents***

Family of Diplomatic are required to submit additional documents:

- Proof of relationship with the Independent or Diplomat who will be posted in Thailand. (i.e. Marriage certificate, Birth certificate).
- A copy of the Passport page of the Independent who will be posted to Thailand.

For non-US citizens, please provide additional document:
– A copy of the permanent resident alien card or a copy of a valid US visa (at least 6 months validity).

***If the applicant not submitting all listed documents or submitted a screenshot or unclear file, he/she will get a request for more documents which will delay the Visa processing time
***All supporting materials that are issued outside of Thailand and the U.S. must be accompanied by certified English translations and notarized by an Embassy or Ministry of Foreign Affairs only***
