Non-Immigrant Visa Category “O-X”

Validity of visa: 5 Years 

Fee: 400 USD

Purpose of Visit: This type of visa may be issued to applicants aged 50 years and over who wish to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 10 years without the intention of working. Holders of this type of visa are allowed to stay in Thailand for 5 years each time (a total of 10 years). Employment of any kind is strictly prohibited.

Eligibility:
1. Applicant must be aged 50 years and over (on the day of submitting application).
2. Applicants must be nationals and passport holders of eligible countries, namely; Japan, Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.
3. Applicants must have a bank deposit of no less than 3 million baht in Thailand or a bank deposit of no less than 1.8 million baht and an annual income of no less than 1.2 million baht. Such an amount must be maintained in bank deposit in full for at least one year and kept at no less than 1.5 million baht thereafter.
4. Applicant must have Thai health insurance for the duration of stay, with coverage for Covid-19 disease with the total sum insured of no less than 3,000,000 THB or $100,000 per policy year.
5. Applicant not prohibited from entering the Kingdom as provided by the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979).
6. Having no criminal record in Thailand and the country of the applicant’s nationality and residence.
7. Not having prohibitive diseases (Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, third phase of Syphilis) as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535.

If the applicant does not have a valid visa or re-entry permit, the applicant must request a visa, at least 15 working days before the intended date of travel, by filling in the information and uploading all required documents online at https://www.thaievisa.go.th/ (Please note that the visa application fee is non-refundable)

Required documents to upload in the system (Large and clear JPEG or PDF format): 

  1. Passport Biodata Page or Travel Document (Must be valid within 18 months from travel date)
  2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  3. Document indicating current location (driving license, bank statement, or proof of stay)
  4. FBI or certificate of criminal record clearance issued from State or Federal Bureau of Investigation only (Issue within 3 months).
    An online criminal record without an authorized signature is unacceptable
  5. Medical certificates showing no prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No.14 (B.E. 2535) certificate shall be valid for not more than three months.   7. Evidence of adequate finance:

O-X visa: A copy of a bank statement from Thailand financial institutes and a letter of guarantee from the bank with bank’s contact information showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 3 million Baht. (Please note that such a minimum amount must be maintained at least 1 year after receiving the visa) or A copy of bank statement (from financial institutes located in Thailand only) and a letter of guarantee from the bank with bank’s contact information showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 1.8 million Baht and proof of annual incomes of not less than 1.2 million Baht. Once the applicants enter Thailand, they must have accumulated money deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand not less than 3 million Baht within 1 year.

  1. Additional health insurance requirement for Non-Immigrant O-X (Long Stay)
  • Effective from 31 October 2019, the applicant must be medically insured for the entire period of stay in Thailand with the following coverage:
    – Health Insurance issued by a insurer in Thailand with outpatient benefit of no less than 40,000 THB and inpatient benefit of no less than 400,000 THB

  • Health insurance policy document issued by a Thai insurance company only, stating that the applicant is medically insured for the period and with coverage as mentioned above:
