1. Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate Jurisdiction 

The Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C. provides registration services for Thai nationals currently residing in the 13 states within its jurisdiction, as follows

Alabama, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Puerto Rico

 

2. General Information

2.1  Royal Thai Embassy provides certified translation services for Thai to English documents. For Thai government documents include:

– Civil registration documents and personal documents such as a birth certificate, a death certificate, a Thai National Identification card, a Thai driver's license, a Certificate of change of name or surname, etc.

– Family registration documents such as a marriage certificate, a marriage registration, a divorce certificate, a divorce registration, etc.

2.2 Official documents used to certify translations must be original documents only. If the original is a copy, it must be a copy that has been authenticated by a Thai government agency only, such as a district office.

2.3 Royal Thai Embassy The “seen at the Royal Thai Embassy” stamp will be stamped to certify the translation. The Royal Thai Embassy does not guarantee any statements appearing in the document.

2.4 In certifying the translation, the applicants must provide the English translation themselves, or assign it to others who have knowledge (translation) . It must be printed properly. and the translator must sign to certify that the translation is correct. Civil registration and family registration documents are standard government forms. Applicants can download and print the form from the Embassy's website.

Translation instructions

1. Translations of documents must be accurate and complete according to the original form. Do not summarize.

2. The first and last name appearing on the document must be spelled correctly as per the passport.

3. If the document is amended .Recorded or edited must also be translated, such as the correction of a child's name recorded on the back of the birth certificate.

4. The translation must be typed correctly. Do not hand write and the translator must sign to certify that the translation is correct, as in the example.

 

3. Required documents

3.3 Two Copies of government documents that want to be certified 

3.4 Two sets of translation documents that are completely and correctly translated according to translation instructions (must be printed only).

3.5 An original passport or a Thai National ID card that is still valid (A copy can be used instead. if you do not wish to submit the original documents)

***In case the applicant does not want to send an original Thai passport or an original Thai ID card. The applicant must submit a copy of your Thai ID card or a copy of Thai passport that has been certified by a Notary Public.***

 

4. Fees

4.1 The translation certification fee is USD 15.00 per stamp.

(This is for the translation certification process. Royal Thai Embassy must certify the original Thai official document first. In order to be able to certify the translated document, for example, certify the original document for 15.00 USD and certify the translation for 15.00 USD, for a total of 30 USD)

4.2 Pay the fee by Money Order or Cashier's Check payable to "Royal Thai Embassy" only.

 

5. processing time

In case of submitting a request by mail. It will take approximately 7-10 business days to process.

5.2  Receive documents by mail. You must proceed as follows:

– Prepare a USPS Post Office Express Mail envelope with a stamp for 28.75 US dollars. (Meter Stamp not accepted)

– Write your Full name / returning address/telephone number on the envelope clearly addressed to yourself.
