Authentication of Thai Documents
1. Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate Jurisdiction |
The Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C. provides registration services for Thai nationals currently residing in the 13 states within its jurisdiction, as follows Alabama, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Puerto Rico |
2. General Information |
Royal Thai Embassy, Washington D.C. can only certify copies of Thai documents that have been issued by the Royal Thai Embassy. According to the principles of document certification, a copy of a document must be certified by the issuing authority of that document. This is because the issuing authority is able to verify that the document was indeed issued by them. Therefore, if the document is a government document not issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Embassy, it is at the discretion of the Embassy to certify such a copy, depending on the authenticity of the document. |

3.1 Fill out the Legalization Application form [Download] 3.2 Original documents that require certified copies 3.3 Two copies of the above documents 3.4 An original of a valid Thai passport or Thai National ID card. (Please note that a copy of Thai passport or Thai National ID card with valid stamp from a Notary Public can be used instead if you do not want to submit the original documents). Note:
- Royal Thai Embassy does not certify signatures on incompletely filled-in documents.
- Royal Thai Embassy only certifies the signature of the petitioner, not certifying any message that appears in the document.

5. Service Fees |
The fee for certifying a copy of a Thai government document is $15.00 per stamp. – Payment method: Payment is made by Money Order / Cashier’s Check only, made payable to “Royal Thai Embassy”. |
6. Submitting Documents and Processing Time: 7 - 10 Business Days |
Please send the documents listed above via mail to the following address and prepare a USPS Post Office Express Mail envelope with postage of $30.45 and address it back to yourself (meter stamp is NOT accepted).
