Ambassador of Thailand meets Deputy Secretary of State

On 11 January 2023, Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand met with Wendy Sherman, Deputy Secretary of State to discuss ways to enhance bilateral alliance and cooperation.

Ambassador Tanee discussed the importance of the Thailand-US Communiqué on Strategic Alliance and Partnership and informed that A-S-P as the main agendas for the Embassy to forge closer cooperation between Thailand and the U.S. going forward; (1) A- Thai-U.S. elevating of Alliance in various areas that are mutually beneficial, (2) S- promoting economic cooperation in areas of Sustainability, and (3) P- supporting the Participation of Thai-American community in the US through cultural and various activities.

Ambassador Tanee also discussed plans to celebrate the 190th years of Thailand-U.S. diplomatic relations this year including public seminar series on Thailand-U.S. relations, Thai festivals in Washington, DC, and various cities of the U.S., and high-level visits to foster cooperation on trade and investment, technology, innovation and start-ups.

Deputy Secretary of State welcomed Ambassador’s A-S-P goals and fully supported closer bilateral cooperation. She congratulated Thailand’s successfully hosting of APEC and admired Thailand’s sustainability agenda and the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy concept, which resonates well with the U.S. APEC’s priority on sustainability this year.
