On December 8, 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat, along with his spouse and embassy officials, visited the Little Giant Muay Thai Gym to observe Muay Thai training and discuss Muay Thai promotion in the U.S., especially in the DMV area. The Ambassador was welcomed by Mr. Thanat Tanachon, also known as Master (or Kru) Chon, Head Muay Thai instructor and co-founder of the Little Giant Muay, together with members of Muay Thai training class under his and Master Roger’s (Kru Sa-ngob) mentorship.
Currently, there are over 400 students from various nationalities enrolled in Muay Thai training programs at the Little Giant Muay Thai Gym. They appreciate the art of Muay Thai and consider it as an exercise. The training programs cater to various age groups, including kids, teenagers, adults, and the elderly, as well as accommodate those seeking physical rehabilitation. Additionally, the gym also provides championship-level Muay Thai training programs.
Master Chon has extensive experience teaching Muay Thai in over 10 countries before moving to the U.S. His goal is to support local communities through practicing Muay Thai for good health, especially for those in need of physical rehabilitation and the elderly, while also promoting the traditional art of Muay Thai.
The Ambassador praised the Little Giant Muay Thai Gym for its role in promoting Muay Thai in the U.S. and expressed his gratitude to members of the gym for their support in organizing Muay Thai demonstration at Sawasdee DC Thai Festival in July 2023. The Embassy will coordinate with the Gym and school in DMV area to provide Muay Thai instruction to local students.
