Bangkok has been named the world's best city for 2026 by readers of Condé Nast Traveller's United Kingdom edition, marking a remarkable achievement for Thailand's capital. The city secured the top spot in the magazine's 2026 UK Readers' Choice Awards, following its absence from the top 20 in the previous year's ranking.

Condé Nast Traveller highlighted Bangkok’s vibrant markets, magnificent royal palaces, religious sites and diverse culinary scene, and described the city as a destination where historic architecture and cultural heritage blend seamlessly with an energetic urban lifestyle.

Bangkok received a score of 97.68 points, ahead of Paris which ranked second with 97.14 points, and Istanbul which placed third with 96.67 points. The results were based on votes from 296,356 readers in the UK, reflecting the city's strong appeal among international travellers.

The recognition reflects Bangkok's wide range of tourism experiences, from its historic landmarks and traditional markets to its contemporary dining and entertainment offerings. The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew showcase Thailand's architectural and cultural heritage, and Wat Pho is renowned for its iconic Reclining Buddha.

Condé Nast Traveller's Readers' Choice Awards consider a broad range of experiences that contribute to a memorable city visit. These include museums and galleries, family activities, street food, Michelin-starred restaurants, bars, hotels and the hospitality of local residents.
