On 15 January 2026, H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the U.S., met with Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Executive Director of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), and her delegation at the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C., during their participation in the Science and Technology in Society Forum Council Meeting on 14 January 2026.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged policy perspectives and discussed strategies and directions for promoting and supporting research and innovation between Thailand and the United States. Key topics included strengthening the capabilities of Thai researchers, developing and expanding research collaboration networks between Thailand, the U.S., and global research institutions, as well as promoting technology transfer and enhancing the quality of Thai research.
The Ambassador also highlighted the United States’ commitment to advancing science and technology cooperation, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors. He emphasized the Embassy’s role in building networks and fostering partnerships with leading U.S. research institutions, including Carnegie Mellon University and Arizona State University, to further enhance collaboration between the two countries.
