On 17 March 2024, Ms. Chuliepote Isarankura Na Ayudhaya, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, represented Ambassador Tanee Sangrat in presiding over the 2024 Mahachat at Wat Thai Washington, D.C. in remembrance of Lord Buddha’s great virtue of charity during his last existence before he was re-born as Prince Siddharta and later achieved enlightenment. On this occasion, Ms. Kelia Cummins, who will assume the position of U.S. Consul-General to Chiang Mai next year, together with her spouse and colleagues from the Department of State, also joined the ceremony in their private capacities.

DCM Chuliepote and other Buddhists as well as non-Thais attending to observe the ceremony listened to the recitations of Mahachat from two reputable monks from Wat Lao Kittisilaram, Connecticut, and Wat Pathammarat, Pennsylvania. They also made other forms of merit through alms offering, acceptance of precepts, and donation of money to support the monks and the temple.
