A total of 14 companies from Thailand are among the world’s most sustainable, ranking among the top 1 percent in the S&P Sustainability Yearbook 2024 - an irrefutable evidence that leading businesses in the Kingdom are committed to responsible corporate citizenship.

Thailand was the clear winner in the rankings, as no other country had as many companies in the top 1 percent, referred to as the Gold Class. Everyone is a winner, however, when more companies around the world become sustainable.

The range of businesses in the top rank indicated the breadth and depth of sustainability efforts taking place in Thailand. The firms included those engaged in energy, public transportation, health and medicine, retail, food and beverages, and digital industries and communications.

Specifically, the 14 firms were True Corporation, Berli Jucker, Thai Beverage, SCG (Siam Cement), PTT Global Chemical, SCG Packaging, Mitr Phol Sugar, BTS Group, Central Pattana, Thai Oil, VGI, PTT Oil and Retail, Asset World, and Bangkok Dusit Medical Services.

Furthermore, six Thai firms were included in the Silver Class, meaning the top 5 percent of companies worldwide.

S&P Global compiled its yearbook based on its 2023 Annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment. The assessment examined over 9,400 companies in 62 industries.

The organization said its yearbook provides transparency, adding that “business leaders and long-term investors interested in measuring sustainability performance need skill and judgment, rooted in comprehensive, detailed, and trusted data and insights.”

Douglas Peterson, President & CEO of S&P Global, said, “I’m pleased to announce that over the past year, companies participating in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment remained very engaged, despite persistent headwinds created by an uncertain macroeconomic and geopolitical environment.”
