On 23 January 2024, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat, together with the Defense and Military Attaché, the Naval Attaché, and the Air Attaché hosted a reception on the occasion of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Day 2024 at Fort Myer, Virginia. Dr. Ely Ratner, ASD for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs, and LTG Marc H. Sasseville (Air Force), Vice Chief, National Guard Bureau (VCNGB), were the guests of honor.

Ambassador Tanee reiterated that Thailand stands by the U.S. as a reliable ally. The Ambassador also shared the recent achievements on elevating the Thai-U.S. alliance and cooperation, including (1) the reception to commemorate the 190 years of Thai-U.S. diplomatic relations with friends from the U.S. Congress and administration, including the Hon. Lloyd Austin, Secretary of Defense, (2) the Sawasdee DC Thai Festival, and (3) the establishment of the US-Thai Alliance Caucus in the U.S. Congress. This year, there expected to be many high-level visits from Thailand to the U.S., which will further elevate our alliance.

The reception was a success, with approximately 250 representatives from the U.S. Department of Defense, including the U.S. Armed Forces, foreign Defense Attachés in Washington D.C., and the Thai community.
