On 8 July 2025, H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the U.S., met with
General Steven S. Nordhaus, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, at the Royal Thai Embassy. The two sides discussed Thai-U.S. defense and security relations, existing cooperation including the State Partnership Program between Washington State and Thailand, joint exercises in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, as well as exchanged views on opportunities for further cooperation.
