On 24 January 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat and Mr. Jumpon Phansumrit, Deputy Attorney General met with Mr. Bruce Swartz, Deputy Assistant Attorney General of the U.S. at the Department of Justice. The meeting was part of the Research Visit on Asset Recovery Management Program that the U.S. government organized for Thailand’s Office of Attorney General.

Both sides discussed bilateral legal cooperation such as extradition, asset forfeiture, as well as plans to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty this year. The U.S. side expressed its deep appreciation for the  excellent cooperation from the Thai counterpart. The Thai side reiterated the importance of reliable partnership, which has been the key element in forging close cooperation between Thailand and the U.S.
