On 8 June 2025, Ms. Chuliepote Isarankura Na Ayudhaya, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C., presided over a special ceremony commemorating the 101st birthday of the Venerable Phra Thepmongkolvajirarangsi (Surasak Cheewananto, known as Luang Ta Chi), Abbot of Wat Thai Washington, D.C.
As part of the ceremony, CDA, a.i. Chuliepote presented a royal offering graciously bestowed by His Majesty the King of Thailand, in recognition of the Abbot’s distinguished service and lifelong contributions to the Buddhist community.
The event drew Buddhist devotees from across the United States, who gathered to pay homage through traditional religious observances, including scripture chanting and an alms-giving ceremony. These rites were led by Phra Thep Vajiravited, President of the Council of Thai Bhikkhus in the United States, alongside senior monks from various regions.
The celebration was a heartfelt gathering of disciples, devotees, and community members, united in honoring the Abbot’s spiritual leadership and extraordinary life of dedication.
