Thailand’s capital has a new icon named after New York’s signature oasis. The newly opened Dusit Central Park hotel complex is capped by a 120,500-square-foot roof garden filled with flowers, plants, a waterfall and panoramic views that is open to the public as
a new green space in the city.

“The Roof Park stemmed from the forward-looking vision of our management team to create more than just a prime-location commercial space, but a place that gives back to society, welcoming people of all ages and lifestyles,” said Suphajee Suthumpun, the newly appointed Minister of Commerce who served as Group Chief Executive Officer of Dusit Thani Public Company Limited while the project was conceived and developed.

The Dusit Central Park was built on the site of the old Dusit Thani Hotel, a Bangkok landmark that when it opened in 1970 was the tallest building in the city and one of its first luxury hotels. Its distinctive spire was instantly recognizable on the city’s skyline.

From that modest start, company founder Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui built the Dusit International hospitality group of 57 hotels and resorts and 240 villas in 18 countries. With the opening of Dusit Central Park, the site across from Lumpini Park in downtown Bangkok returns to its rightful place as the crown jewel of the Dusit empire.

The new development consists of a 5-star hotel, ultra-luxury residences, premium office spaces, and a new high-end shopping center in addition to the Roof Park. Dusit said the Roof Park “is expertly designed to bring nature to the city while appealing to all ages and interests, becoming the center of a dynamic green urban community.”

The green space also features a Bird Nest zone, offering a panoramic viewpoint of Bangkok’s skyline, a multipurpose amphitheater, and a tiered natural trail designed to provide an enjoyable nature experience.

“The Roof Park is elevated green space where I can run, walk along trails, and unwind in nature. It’s also thoughtfully designed, with different zones for working out or leisure. There will always be spots to suit my mood,” Dr. Anawat Siwaleepan, a new Dusit resident told Prestige magazine.
