On 6 September 2025, H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States, delivered welcoming remarks in a pre-recorded video format at the MHESI-ATPAC Conference 2025, co-organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand (MHESI) and the Association of Thai Professionals in America and Canada (ATPAC) under the theme ‘Reinventing Thai Universities’, at The Westin Tempe.
The Conference was chaired by Dr. Supachai Puthimnakul, Permanent Secretary of MHESI, and Dr. Methi Wetcharatana, ATPAC President. Leading executives and academics from Thailand, ATPAC members, and Dr. Albert Sacco Jr., Former Dean of Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering, Texas Tech University and Former NASA astronaut also attended at the gathering to share and exchange their views.
On 9 September 2025, the Ambassador witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between MHESI and Arizona State University (ASU) on scientific and educational collaboration, attended the meeting between the Permanent Secretary of MHESI and Dr. Michael Crow, President of ASU, and visited MacroTechnology Works at ASU, a world-class facility accelerating semiconductor, as well as participated the Industry Roundtable to discuss cooperation in semiconductor industry with leading semiconductor companies based in Arizona.
The Ambassador also met with an executive of Microchip Technology, a leading American semiconductor company with significant operations in Thailand, at the company’s headquarters in Chandler. Mr. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary-General of the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), and Mr. Thitidej Tularak, Minister-Counsellor (Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation), also joined the meeting.
