Ambassador of Thailand visits Los Angeles to oversee the assistance for Thai nationals affected by the wildfires

On 14 January 2025, H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand, visited Los Angeles, California, to meet with the Consul-General of Thailand in Los Angeles and Thai community representatives to discuss the development of the wildfires, their impact on the Thai community, and ways to provide assistance to the affected Thai nationals.

Representatives from the Thai community in Los Angeles offered their support inareas of their expertise to contribute to the Consulate-General’s efforts to assist affectedThai nationals, including the provision of essential supplies, meals, legal assistance, and training for future disasters.

The Ambassador gave words of encouragement and conveyed messages of care from the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Thailand to the Thai community. He also expressed his condolences to those affected from the loss of their home or business, and psychological impact from the disaster. The Ambassador emphasized the Government’s commitment to providing care and assistance to those in need, and expressed his appreciation to the Thai community for their strength, resilience, resources, expertise, and compassion in working together to assist the affected Thai nationals. The Ambassador also stressed the importance of preparedness for possible future disasters and crises.

On this occasion, the Ambassador talked by telephone to some of the Thai nationals who were directly impacted by the wildfires to convey a message of encouragement and care, as well as to understand their needs in order to coordinate appropriate assistance to each individual.
