This Kingdom loves to dance. Thailand’s role as an Asian hub for entertainment and festivals got a vibe injection with a deal to host Tomorrowland, the Belgian-based electronic music festival that typically draws hundreds of thousands of revelers.
The Thai edition of Tomorrowland, slated for 2026, will be the first time the dance festival will be staged in Asia. Capturing the event was a coup for the Thai government as organizers could have chosen competing entertainment capitals in the region such as Seoul, Tokyo or Singapore.
The festival will also serve to promote a new wave of Thai musical artists who are beginning to make names for themselves on the global stage. Some music industry analysts have written that T-Pop might eventually give K-Pop a run for its money.
“This is an opportunity to uplift Thai artists, push the music industry, and create a new standard for organizing concerts in Thailand. This is truly a turning point to becoming a world event destination,” said Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
The Prime Minister recently met with Bruno Vanwelsenaers, CEO of Tomorrowland International, at Government House in Bangkok to discuss the ‘Tomorrowland Thailand 2026’ project.
DJ Magazine wrote that Tomorrowland was recently voted the No.1 Festival in The World in the magazine’s Top 100 Festivals poll. Tomorrowland’s flagship Belgium edition will be held next month, while international editions will take place in Brazil and Medellín, Colombia this year.
“The festival’s arrival is poised to enhance Thailand’s appeal as a premier destination for international tourism, particularly in the area of music tourism,” wrote the Travel and Tour World website.
“Tomorrowland is not just a music festival; it’s a massive economic engine for host cities. Annually, the event draws a massive crowd, with hundreds of thousands of attendees and generates substantial economic impact,” the website wrote.
