On 9 May 2026, Mr. Jak Sangchai, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), represented the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C., at the Opening Ceremony of the 41st Annual General Meeting of the Dhammayut Order in the United States, at Wat Tummaprateip, Washington, D.C.

The opening remarks were delivered virtually by Somdet Phra Maha Wirawong, member of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand and Secretary-General of the Dhammayut Order. Phra Dhamma Vajirapamokkha, Advisor to the Office of Supervision of Dhammayut Order Abroad and Assistant Secretary-General of the Dhammayut Order, presided over the Meeting, with the attendance of more than 100 monks of the Dhammayut Order from all over the United States as well as Thailand.

On this occasion, the Minister and DCM delivered welcoming remarks emphasizing the close cooperation between the Royal Thai Embassy, the three Royal Thai Consulates-General, and all Thai temples in the United States. He highlighted the important role of Thai temples as spiritual centers for Buddhist communities and in supporting the strengthening of Thai communities abroad. He also expressed appreciation to the temples for continued cooperation with the Royal Thai Embassy and the Royal Thai Consulates-General for the provision of mobile consular services to Thai nationals residing in the United States over the years.
