Apply for a Waiver of Military Conscription

Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate Jurisdiction 

The Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C. provides registration services for Thai nationals currently residing in the 13 states within its jurisdiction, as follows

Alabama, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Puerto Rico

 

1. Required documents

1.1 Certificate from current educational institution (not from National Student Clearinghouse*) with a copy and translation, printed in Thai. along with another copy, which the translator must certify that the translation is correct sign and specify the details as follows;

     1.1.1 What field/curriculum are you studying (name of program of study) at which educational institution (Name of Institute) including the location of the educational institution? 

     1.1.2 When did you start your studies (Date of Admission) and when are you expected to complete the program (Date of Graduation)?      

     1.1.3 The level of education being studied (Degree) and (Major).

*Certified letter/document from National Student Clearinghouse. The above required details will not be specified*

1.4 Original Thai passport that is still valid. (If you do not wish to send the original Thai passport, a certified copy from a Notary Public can be used instead. The Embassy will not accept a copy of expired passport.)

1.5 Original Thai National Identification card (If you do not wish to submit your original ID card, a copy can be used instead. The person requesting the waiver must certify the correct copy and sign your signature as well. (the Royal Thai Embassy will not accept a copy of expired Thai National ID card.)

1.6 Original Thai house registration (If you do not wish to submit the original Thai house registration ,a copy can be used instead. The person requesting the waiver must certify the correct copy and sign your signature as well.

1.7 Two copies of the military certificate, Form So Dor. 9, which the applicant must certify as true copies and sign your signature as well.

1.8 Two copies of the summons for military service, Form So Dor. 35 (if Available), which the applicant must certify as true copies and sign your signature as well.

1.9 The fee is USD 15 and must be paid by a Money Order or Cashier's Check payable to "Royal Thai Embassy" only.

 

2. processing time

In case of submitting a request by mail. It will take approximately 7-10 business days to process.

2.1  Apply by mail: send the documents listed above to

– address: Royal Thai Embassy 

Attn: legalization section 2300 Kalorama Rd. N.W. Washington D.C. 20008  

2.2  Receive documents by mail. You must proceed as follows:

– Prepare a USPS Post Office Express Mail envelope with a stamp for 30.45 US dollars. (Meter Stamp not accepted)

– Write your Full name / returning address/telephone number on the envelope clearly addressed to yourself.
