Thailand’s National Day Reception at Royal Thai Embassy, Washington, D.C.

On the eve of 1 December 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy and Team Thailand in Washington, D.C. hosted a reception at the Royal Thai Embassy, Washington, D.C. to celebrate the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand in commemoration of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Thailand’s Father’s Day.

H.E. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador-Designate of Thailand to the United States of America presided over the event and the Honorable Daniel J. Kritenbrink, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs was the guest of honor. The event was attended by over 300 guests from various U.S. Government agencies, U.S. Congress, diplomatic corps, business community, media, academic circle, think tanks, and the Thai community in Washington, DC and nearby areas.

At the beginning, Ambassador-Designate Tanee Sangrat warmly welcomed all friends of Thailand who gathered at the event to show friendship and solidarity with Thailand and the Thai people. He stressed how historic this year has been for Thailand – U.S. relations, which include a number of high-level exchange visits between the two countries; increasing trade, investment, and tourism figures; and enhanced cooperation across all areas. Ambassador-Designate Tanee also reiterated long-lasting and close Thailand-U.S. relations, as well as how such alliance and partnership are now back on an even keel in all areas, including political, economic, cultural and people-to-people ties.

The Honorable Daniel J. Kritenbrink, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific affairs, was present as the Guest of Honour for the event. His remarks congratulated on the celebration of Thailand’s National Day, as well as reiterated the importance of Thailand as the oldest treaty partner of the U.S. in Asia and joint achievements when the two countries work together. Followed by a video clip from the Honorable Senator Ladda Tammy Duckworth, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Airland, Senate Committee on Armed Services, who joined to celebrate with everyone virtually.

During the event, guests enjoyed Thai classical dance and traditional music, Thailand – U.S. relations exhibition, “Travel around Thailand” photo corner, as well as a wide variety of Thai food, drinks and desserts from various Team Thailand offices and many Thai restaurants in the area.
