Ambassador Tanee reaffirms Thailand’s readiness for continued partnership with the U.S. in promoting Thailand’s sustainable economy

On October 12, 2023, Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the U.S., delivered an opening remarks at the roundtable discussion entitled “U.S.-Thailand Relations at 190 Years: Toward a Sustainable Future”, co-hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy, Washington, D.C. and US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC).

Ambassador Tanee stressed Thailand’s priorities in promoting sustainable and inclusive economic growth, economic development through the 3Is approach, which are Innovative, Inclusive, and Integrated. Thailand is also working towards becoming a regional EV hub and innovation. In addition, Ambassador Tanee reaffirmed that Thailand would speed up FTA negotiations with major economies while being a trusted and reliable partner for the US’ secured and resilient supply chain.

The roundtable discussion featured distinguished speakers including a keynote remarks from Honorable Marisa Lago, Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade, and remarks from Mr. Wirat Tatsarinkansakul, Deputy Secretary General, Board of Investment (BOI) of Thailand, Dr. Cholachit Vorawangso, Assistant Secretary of the Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EEC), and executives from Ford Motor, Dow, and Google. There were also discussions and exchanges of views on how Thailand and the US could shape future collaboration on sustainability in 3 sectors, comprising Bio-Circular-Green economy (BCG), electric vehicle, and digital economy. The roundtable discussion was a success with a very good turn out from both private and public sectors who joined in-person and virtually.
