On 18 July 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat met with Dr. Mira Rapp-Hooper, Special Assistant to the President of the US and Senior Director for East Asia and Oceania, National Security Council, who recently assumed office.
Both sides commended the close and long-standing alliance between Thailand and the US, which encompassed multifaceted cooperation that can be further elevated. The discussion also included development cooperation in the Mekong sub-region, situation in Myanmar, and political development in Thailand. The Ambassador reassured Dr. Rapp-Hooper that the election of the Prime Minister and forming of the government is in accordance with democratic procedure and parliamentary system and regardless of the incoming administration, the alliance and relationship between the two nations would remain close and strong.
The Special Assistant to the President reaffirmed her commitment to enhancing exchanges of US-Thai high-level visits both during official visits and on the sidelines of major international conferences such as Asean Summit in Jakarta and Apec Summit in San Francisco later this year.
